Daytona 24 hours begins - Atlanta Journal Constitution

Daytona Beach, Florida - The 24 Hours of Daytona will try with the stars team Chip Ganassi, the owner returned to Victory Lane in the prestigious, twice around the clock endurance race.

Jörg Bergmeister Flying Lizard Motorsports driving, starting from pole and leading the 18-car pack to the green flag for the Daytona Prototype category.

The two Ganassi cars were close behind with Scott Pruett and Scott Dixon, driving the first stint. These teams include NASCAR star Juan Pablo Montoya and Jamie McMurray, and open-wheel drivers Dario Franchitti and Graham Rahal.

Pruett, class DP won a record three times, but the second place last year, when a team reached deducted anchored by Joao Barbosa and Terry Borcheller a surprising victory.

Dominik Fambach led the GT class at the green flag on Saturday, but Robin Liddell took the lead shortly after.
