Somali pirates have a yacht with an American couple sailing around the world distribute Bibles removed, UN officials said Friday.

John and Adam Scott - with two other unidentified Americans - were attacked by pirates in the Arabian Sea off the coast of Somalia.

The U.S. military weighs a response, a spokesman told The Associated Press on Saturday.

"We are aware of the situation and we will continue to monitor" the military spokesman.

There were no reports of a ransom demand had been.

Adams sailing around the world for more than six years on their yacht, the Quest has a website for the couple, together with their journey.

"Another aspect of our tours is friendship evangelism - which is to find homes for thousands of Bibles," says the site.
