The men of the NCC team receives its own Big Monday - Allentown Morning Call

Bethlehem Catholic grad Al Blount was a first team all-area selection and an average of 17 points and six assists.

Elliot Allen Gumbs product is the first player on the bench. He missed the first half with a knee injury, but coach Kevin Foley said Gumbrecht is "simply our best defensive player."

Other stars include former NCC Conwell Egan star Ike Robinson, a former champion Philadelphia Catholic League in scoring, the game averaging 20 points per game and Tyson Efferson, a former star York, eight points and eight rebounds per supplies. He led the Bearcats PIAA 4A finals two years ago.

If SCC wins tonight, it would be for the front region of 19 semi-final on Friday at Lackawanna College. The championship game Area 19 is on Sunday with the winner gets one of eight berths, the NJCAA Championships set for Sullivan County, New York.

The women of the NCC (22-5, 18-2) is ranked in the nation among junior college programs seventh and received a pass directly into the regional semifinals. Art Wolfe's Lady Spartans game is this weekend at Lackawanna College.

In its final regular season Thursday night, the women reached 73-51 SCC victory over Passaic County Community College.

Freshman Melanie Palko Hazleton record broke the single season school 3-point-four with Trey and gave him 72 on the season.

In this game, Halie Cintron (Allen) Grade has 14 points and 18 rebounds. Cintron was the first team All-Region team named. She averaged 11.4 points and 9.7 rebounds per game.

Liberty grad April Andrews is averaging 11 points and seven rebounds per game and Emmaus product DeAnna Brown is also averaging 11 points per game.

It's Todd Dodge, the Morning News was named Texas High School coaching legend "by Dallas. He was recently hired by the University of Pittsburgh as quarterbacks coach.

Dodge led Southlake Carroll High School to four state Class 5A title in his last five seasons (2002-06), going 79-1 in that span.
