An event-music benefit Saturday in favor of a young girl of Boiling Springs with a rare disease.
Addy Grace McCraw is only 20 months and the survival needs intensive medical treatment in the past, their childhood. Addy MPS I, better known as Hurler syndrome known.
The disease, caused by a missing enzyme to break down sugar, affects the bones and organs, eyesight and hearing. It is a rare disease that occurs worldwide in about 100,000 births. There is no cure, but treatment can extend life Addy.
Addy and her parents, Boiling Springs residents Heath and Amber McCraw have at Duke University Medical Center since December Addy where chemotherapy was completed and a stem cell transplant.
"Their hope is to raise it from its woe to stop the brain so they can participate in the public schools and feel no different," said a family friend and fundraiser organizer Johnnie Lynn Crosby.
