Shooting Officer Dies in Poughkeepsie - WNYT

Poughkeepsie - Poughkeepsie Police Chief Ron Knapp said a statement released late Friday evening that the officer died caught in a firefight outside the station from his injuries.

The unidentified officer, a veteran of 18 years, was shot in the head. Police believe the gunman killed a woman earlier in the day. The gunman was killed, but police do not know if he was killed by police or if he shot himself.

Another officer was also injured. He suffered minor injuries.
