Obama presented the Medal of Freedom President users one of the highest civilian awards in the U.S..
The price of this year, each new beneficiary is the highest honor in the country, about as prestigious as the Congressional Gold Medal. Tracing its roots Truman (it was used in World War II civilian honor), the award was officially opened by JFK in 1963, again with a larger and purpose.
The President himself to receive the Medal of Freedom recipients, although it may base its decision on the recommendations.
The winners this year were former President George HW Bush, author / poet Maya Angelou and basketball Bill Russell.
